Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered has 12 playable monsters. You start with Godzilla (1990), Gigan, Megalon and Anguirus. The other eight, including Orga, Destoroyah and Mechagodzilla, are unlocked through research in the G-Force Lab.
Every monster has its own moveset of melee attacks, ranged energy attacks and Rage moves. Several monster abilities are confirmed by the game's own Steam achievements, which we use below where we can.

The order you unlock them in is up to you. According to Kaiju Live TV, Destoroyah and Showa Mechagodzilla take the most research, and Mechagodzilla is the last one on the path. See the unlock guide for the steps.
Starting monsters
The four starters cover different styles. Godzilla (1990) is the all-rounder, with high health and reliable tail attacks. Gigan relies on mobility and teleports. Megalon can tunnel under the arena to avoid attacks and grab opponents from below. Anguirus is defensive: opponents who hit his back while he blocks take damage themselves.
You will need all four. Kaiju Live TV notes that each starter has to reach level 5 before Showa Mechagodzilla can be unlocked, and some research tasks ask for wins with a specific monster.
Unlockable monsters
Godzilla 2000 shares much of Godzilla (1990)'s moveset, so it is an easy switch if you like the original. King Ghidorah and Mecha-King Ghidorah both favour range, and the mechanical version adds a shield that turns beams into health. Rodan is fast and flies, but takes damage easily.
Kiryu and Mechagodzilla have strong weapon attacks and good defence. Destoroyah hits hard, and one achievement asks you to win a match with it without spending any energy, which shows how much of its kit runs on energy.
Orga
Orga is one of the eight unlockable monsters. It is a close-range grappler: the achievement Grab 'N Go asks you to perform a Rage Grab with Orga, which you do by picking up a red Rage token and then grabbing an opponent. In PK Doomy's ranking, Orga is praised for heavy grab combos but is weak against monsters that keep their distance with beams.
Orga also has a special match-up. The hidden achievement Battle of the Millennium asks you to defeat Orga as Godzilla 2000 in Tokyo, which you can set up in Custom Battle once both monsters and the location are unlocked. As of November 7, 2026, fewer than 3% of Steam players had either Orga achievement.
The exact research steps for Orga are to be confirmed. Note that the old GameCube cheat code for Orga does not work in the remaster, because the cheat menu is gone (see cheat codes).
Skins
The Digital Deluxe Upgrade adds two alternate looks: Burning Millennium Godzilla (2025) and Mechagodzilla (1974) Black ver. These are skins, not extra roster slots. Details are on the DLC page.
